Ahead of the Jan. 25 expiry, the value of outstanding positions—also called open interest in the derivatives segment—has increased for the FIIs in the Nifty futures. The FIIs' long-to-short ratio in index futures remains at 20%:80%.

The FIIs bought index futures worth Rs 303.22 crore and sold options worth Rs 12,745.1 crore. They also bought stock options worth Rs 332.2 crore and futures worth Rs 188.33 crore.

FII Contract Value

The value of the total Nifty 50 futures open interest in the market decreased by Rs 1,191.48 crore at the end of January expiry from Rs 31,724.82 crore a day earlier to Rs 30,533.34 crore.

F&O Cues

The Nifty January futures were down by 0.64% to 23,114 at a premium of 21.8 points, with the open interest down by 3.13%.

The open interest distribution for the Nifty 50 Jan. 30 expiry series indicated most activity at 24,000 call strikes, with the 22,000 put strikes having maximum open interest.

Long-Short Ratio

The total long-short ratio for foreign investors rose to 1.12 from 1.16 in the previous session.
