Union Budget 2025: NSE, BSE To Remain Open On Saturday, Feb. 1

The Indian stock markets will remain open on Feb. 1, 2025, as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget for the financial year ending March 2026.

The special session on Saturday will commence at 9 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. on the National Stock Exchange Position limit and collateral value cut-off will conclude at 5:15 p.m. Trade modification end time will be at 5:15 p.m. The special trading session will follow standard morning session timings for the day, the NSE said.

This will be the fifth special trading session of bourses since 2024. Before this, special sessions were held on Jan. 20, March 2 and May 18 to test disaster recovery site switchover. On Nov. 1, the annual special session was held for Muhurat trading for the occasion of Diwali.

India's oldest stock exchange, BSE Ltd. also issued a clarification regarding the live trading session on Saturday. Continuous trading sessions will be held from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Special pre-open session and both the block deal window will take place in the usual market timings.

All timings are the same as existing live trading, except the random stoppage of order entry session in the last 1 minute and during the last 10 minutes, the BSE statement said.

Trading in T+0 settlement session and auction session for settlement default will not be conducted on the date. The market will also be open for trading in equity derivatives and commodity derivatives under the usual timings.

Usually, on budget days, stock markets see movements across board as reaction to various norms proposals in the annual budget statement.
