Top 10 Most-Valued Firms Lose Rs 1.41 Lakh Crore In Market Cap, Led By TCS, RIL

The NSE Nifty ended 332.25 points or 1.35% down at 24,336 and the BSE Sensex closed 1,064.12 points or 1.3% lower at 80,684.45.

The top 10 most-valued firms lost a cumulative Rs 1.41 Lakh crore in market valuation on Tuesday, with Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. and Reliance Industries Ltd. emerging as the biggest losers.

TCS lost Rs 33,467 crore, taking its market capitalisation to Rs 15.6 lakh crore, while RIL lost Rs 31,934 crore, with its market cap falling to Rs 16.8 lakh crore.

ITC Ltd., which was only stock that ended higher out of the top 10 most-valued firms, gained Rs 750 crore in market cap to Rs 5.88 lakh crore.

HDFC Bank Ltd. and Bharti Airtel Ltd. lost Rs 26,929 crore and Rs 26,501 crore respectively. State Bank of India and ICICI Bank Ltd. lost Rs 9,950 crore and Rs 8,521 crore respectively.

The market cap of Infosys Ltd. fell Rs 2,512 crore to Rs 8.19 lakh crore, while that of HCL Technologies Ltd. declined Rs 1,723 crore to Rs 5.28 lakh crore. Hindustan Unilever Ltd.'s market valuation fell Rs 505 crore to 5.55 lakh crore.

RIL remained the most-valued firm, followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, Airtel, ICICI Bank, Infosys, SBI, HUL, ITC and HCLTech.

The benchmark equity indices extended its fall for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, losing nearly 2% since Friday amid weak sentiment in the global markets a day ahead of the outcome of the US Federal Reserve's meeting.

The NSE Nifty ended 332.25 points or 1.35% down at 24,336 and the BSE Sensex closed 1,064.12 points or 1.3% lower at 80,684.45. During the day, both the Nifty and Sensex had declined 1.4% each.

Share prices of HDFC Bank Ltd., Reliance Industries Ltd., Bharti Airtel Ltd., Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. and Larsen & Toubro Ltd. dragged the Nifty the most. ITC Ltd. and Cipla Ltd. capped the fall in the index.
