Ray Dalio Debuts Flexibility Principle as Key to Having It All

(Bloomberg) -- Ray Dalio knows he can sound โ€œidealisticโ€ when he encourages his avid readers to make their passion and work one in the same. That advice could even be dangerous to younger people just starting out in their careers, he said Wednesday in a LinkedIn post.

โ€œTo have both the money you need and the job you want, you have to be creative and flexible,โ€ he wrote, debuting the maxim as one of the rules for life he calls principles.

Living your best life takes both fulfilling work and having enough money to buy the things you need, the billionaire founder of investment management firm Bridgewater Associates acknowledged, calling the right balance one of life's โ€œgreat puzzles.โ€

โ€œThe more clever you are, the fewer compromises you will have to make,โ€ Dalio wrote, adding that solving the puzzle takes trial and error, determination, and โ€œseeking the best advice one can get from the most believable people one can get to provide it.โ€
