Oilman Hamm Set to Talk Crude Outlook With Agency He Blasted

(Bloomberg) -- The U.S. Energy Information Administration is set to discuss trends in crude production, and it's invited one of its most vocal critics to join the party.

Harold Hamm, the billionaire oilman who runs Continental Resources Inc., is slated to appear alongside an EIA analyst during a Thursday webinar examining the agency's oil forecasts.

It's an unusual pairing.

Hamm, a top supporter of President Donald Trump, blasted the EIA in September with complaints the agency was overstating oil production and therefore talking down oil prices.

The Thursday session gives Hamm a platform to share his views on domestic oil production, and try to demonstrate why EIA analysts should be more restrained in their growth projections. Analysts from Rystad Energy and Drilling Info Inc. are also set to participate.

Although it's common for corporate executives to appear at the EIA's annual conference in Washington, the involvement of an oil industry leader at one of its webinars appears to be unprecedented.
