Axis Bank Ltd., Shriram Finance Ltd., Bharat Electronics Ltd., Bharti Airtel Ltd. and HDFC Bank Ltd., declined the most in the NSE Nifty 50 on Friday.
Wipro Ltd., Bajaj Finance Ltd., Tata Steel Ltd., Oil & Natural Gas Corp. and Nestle India Ltd. were among the top gainers today.
Axis Bank led the losses, declining 5.27% to close at Rs 1,098.70 apiece. Shriram Finance and Bharat Electronics closed 3.06% and 2.38% down at Rs 645.10 and Rs 393.60 respectively. While, Bharti Airtel shares declined 1.79%, shares of HDFC Bank also closed in red, declining 1.78%
Wipro shares led the gains, rising 2.21% to close at Rs 266.35 apiece. Bajaj Finance and Tata Steel closed 1.97% and 1.63% up at Rs 941.50 and Rs 162.50 respectively. ONGC and Nestle advanced 1.03% and 1.02% respectively.
India's benchmark indices closed on losses for the second consecutive day, weighed by heavyweights Axis Bank Ltd. and Shriram Finance Ltd. Nifty Bank fell nearly 1%, becomes top losing sector for the day. Axis Bank and HDFC Bank lose the most in Nifty Bank.
The NSE Nifty 50 closed 0.57% down at 24,968.4, while BSE Sensex ended 0.61% lower at 81,757.73.
