FPIs Turn Net Buyers After Three Sessions

In 2025 so far, the FPIs have net sold equities worth over Rs 97,495 crore.

Foreign portfolio investors turned net buyers of Indian equities on Wednesday after three sessions, buying up stocks worth Rs 1,076.2 crore, according to the provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.

Domestic institutional investors stayed net buyers for the 12th straight session as they bought equities worth Rs 2,566.8 crore, the data showed.

The FPIs bought equity worth Rs 19,860 crore in May. In April, the overseas investors had net bought shares worth Rs 4,223 crore, according to the National Securities Depository Ltd.'s data.

In March, they had net offloaded equities worth Rs 3,973 crore, which was significantly lower as compared to the net selling of equities worth Rs 34,574 crore in February. This was preceded by net selling of Rs 78,027 crore in January.

The benchmark equity indices closed higher on Wednesday, ending a three-day losing streak.

The NSE Nifty 50 ended 77 points or 0.32% higher at 24,620, while the BSE Sensex closed 260.74 points or 0.32% up at 80,998. During the day, the Nifty rose 0.41% to trade at 24,644.25 and the Sensex rose 0.43% to trade at 81,087.29.
