Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday strongly condemned Iran Supreme Leader Ayotollah Khamenei's death in the US-Israel joint attack. In a post on X, she did not name US President Donald Trump or Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu but said that due to these escalations, multiple nations have now been dragged into conflict.
She wrote, "The targetted assassination of the leadership of a sovereign nation by the so called leaders of the democratic world and the killing of multitudes of innocent people is despicable and deserves strong condemnation, no matter what the proclaimed reason for it is. It is tragic that multiple nations have now been dragged into conflict."
She quoted Mahatma Gandhi's famous phrase, "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" while criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for meeting with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump and hopes that he will prioritise bringing Indian citizens home safely.
