IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet and Akasa Air issued advisories in the wee hours of Wednesday as several airports in northern India will remain closed, amid the escalation of India-Pakistan tensions.

Airports in six northern cities—Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, and Dharamshala—have been shut, SpiceJet said. This came following the Indian Army's launch of ‘Operation Sindoor' targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan in the early hours of Wednesday.

"Due to changing airspace conditions in the region, our flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh and Dharamshala are impacted. We request you to check your flight status at https://bit.ly/31paVKQ before reaching the airport," IndiGo announced on its X profile.

The airlines later updated that flights to and from Bikaner are also impacted by the current airspace restrictions.
