Three days after Indian forces carried out precision strikes inside Pakistan, official sources have confirmed to NDTV the identities of five senior terrorist operatives killed in the May 7 operation, codenamed ‘Operation Sindoor'. The dead include top members of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, involved in planning and executing cross-border attacks.
Among those killed was Mudassar Khadian Khas, also known as Abu Jundal, a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba figure reportedly overseeing operations at Markaz Taiba in Muridke. His funeral was held with military honours, including a guard of honour from the Pakistan Army. Wreaths were laid on behalf of the Pakistan Army Chief and the Punjab Chief Minister. Hafiz Abdul Rauf of Jamaat-ud-Dawa led the funeral prayer, held in a government school and attended by a serving Lieutenant General and the Punjab Police Inspector General.
Another killed was Hafiz Muhammed Jameel, linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and the eldest brother-in-law of Maulana Masood Azhar. He headed Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur and was involved in radicalisation and fundraising for JeM.
Mohammad Yusuf Azhar, also known as Ustad Ji, a JeM operative and brother-in-law of Masood Azhar, was responsible for weapons training and was named in several terror-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. He is also wanted in connection with the IC-814 hijacking case.
Khalid, also known as Abu Akasha, was affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and involved in weapons smuggling from Afghanistan. He took part in multiple attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. His funeral in Faisalabad was attended by senior army officers and the local deputy commissioner.
Mohammad Hassan Khan, a Jaish-e-Mohammed member and son of Mufti Asghar Khan Kashmiri, was active in organising attacks in Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Operation Sindoor was conducted in the early hours of May 7, when Indian armed forces struck nine terror-linked locations in Pakistan. The strikes, lasting 25 minutes between 1:05 am and 1:30 am, involved 24 missiles and targeted infrastructure linked to LeT and JeM.
