The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned on Tuesday that several parts of India are expected to receive heavy rainfall, hailstorms, or strong winds accompanied by thunderstorm-like weather conditions this week.
“A cyclonic circulation lies over Marathwada and nearby regions at lower tropospheric levels. A north-south trough runs from the cyclonic circulation to north Tamil Nadu across interior Karnataka at lower levels,” the IMD said in a press release, outlining the regions expected to receive rainfall.
According to the weather body, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Marathwada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, interior Karnataka, are expected to receive thunderstorms this week. Meanwhile, Kerala and parts of interior Karnataka are among the regions expected to receive heavy rainfall.

Coastal & South Interior Karnataka: Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places on Apr. 3 and 4, according to the IMD.
Kerala & Mahe: Likely from Apr. 3 to 6.

According to the IMD, east India is expected to witness a gradual rise in maximum temperature by up to 3 degrees Celsius from Apr. 1 and 2. No further significant weather changes are expected till Apr. 4. Similarly, northwest India will witness a gradual increase in temperature by a couple degrees Celsius till Apr. 2, with no significant change till Apr. 4.
