Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Voter Turnout At 62.8%

Poll percentage crossed the halfway mark in West Bengal at 51.9%, while in Madhya Pradesh it stood at 48.5%.

Provisional Voter Turnout At 62.84%

The provisional voter turnout is 62.84% as of 8 pm, Election Commission said. Polling is completed in state assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.

After the fourth phase, polling is complete in 23 states/UTs and 379 seats for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The next phase (phase 5) polling is scheduled on May 20 in 49 seats in 8 States/UTs.

Polling In Sole J&K Seat Low

Srinagar is the sole seat going to polls from Jammu and Kashmir in the fourth phase. The constituency has reported only 29.9% polling as of 5 pm. Nearly 17.48 lakh voters will choose from 24 candidates contesting from the constituency. It is the first major election in Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.

Voting Crosses Half-Way Mark In 6 States

The voter turnout crossed 50% in six states, including Andhra Pradesh (55.5%), Jharkhand (56.4%), Madhya Pradesh (59.6%), Odisha (52.9%), and West Bengal (66.1%).

Lok Sabha Election: Voter Turnout At 1 PM

Voter turnout across 96 seats holding polls today reached 40.3% by 1:00 p.m. Poll percentage crossed the halfway mark in West Bengal at 51.9%, while in Madhya Pradesh it stood at 48.5%. Jharkhand saw 43.8% voting and 40.4% voters exercised their mandate in Telangana.

Voter Turnout Reaches 24.9% By 11 AM

As per Election Commission data, voting percentage across 96 seats of 10 provinces stood at 24.9% as of 11:00 a.m. West Bengal had the highest voter turnout at 32.8%, followed by Madhya Pradesh (32.4%) and Jharkhand (27.4%).

Amit Shah Expects Markets To 'Shoot Up' After June 4

Home Minister Amit Shah isn’t too worried about the recent fall in markets. In an exclusive interview to NDTV India's Vikas Bhadauria, he said that the market will “shoot up” after the election results are announced on June 4, 2024.

Shah explained why he was optimistic about where the Indian stocks markets were heading. “Whenever there is a steady government, markets do well. Modiji is coming back as the prime minister for the third time. Thus, my prediction.”

Political Bigwigs, Celebrities Queue To Cast Votes 

Big names from politics and entertainment industry exercised their right to vote in the early hours of voting today. Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy were among the voters on Monday. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah also cast their votes in Srinagar today.

Actors Allu Arjun, Jr NTR, and Chiranjeevi were among the voters today as well.

Lok Sabha Elections Phase 4: Average Assets Of Candidates Stands At Rs 11.7 Crore

The average assets of over 1,700 candidates contesting the fourth phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections is Rs 11.7 crore. Of the 1,710 candidates contesting the polls today, 476 are crorepatis, according to an analysis by the non-profit Association for Democratic Reforms.

Among them, 205 candidates have wealth of Rs 5 crore and above, while 133 are worth between Rs 2 crore and Rs 5 crore.

Lok Sabha Elections Phase 4: All You Need To Know

A total of 96 seats across 10 states and Union Territories will go to polls on Monday, with the fate of 1,717 candidates hanging in the balance. Voting will be held in all 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana, all 25 seats in Andhra Pradesh, 13 in Uttar Pradesh, five in Bihar, four in Jharkhand, eight in Madhya Pradesh, 11 in Maharashtra, four in Odisha, eight in West Bengal and one in Jammu and Kashmir.

More than 19 lakh polling officials have been deployed at 1.92 lakh polling stations for the over 17.70 crore eligible voters, including 8.73 crore women.

Srinagar is the sole seat going to polls from Jammu and Kashmir in the fourth phase. Nearly 17.48 lakh voters will choose from 24 candidates contesting from the constituency. It is the first major election in Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.

So far, till phase three of the Lok Sabha elections, polling has concluded in 283 seats out of 543, with voter turnout at 66.14%, 66.71% and 65.68%, respectively.

The weather forecast indicates that the parliamentary constituencies going to polls are likely to experience normal to below normal temperatures and there will be no heatwave-like conditions in these areas on polling day.

Polling for the next three phases in the country is on May 20, May 25 and June 1. The counting of votes is on June 4.
