Welspun Enterprises Ltd. expects “exponential growth” of water infrastructure projects over the next five years to boost its order book.

“I believe that in the next year or so we should have about Rs 3,000-5,000 crore of orders,” the pipemaker's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Sandeep Garg told BloombergQuint in an interview. “In the next couple of years, I look at Rs 10,000 crore worth of orders coming our way.”

The current order book is around Rs 8,500 crore, said Garg. “The signs of large projects being announced are right there. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has announced sewerage treatment plants to the tune of Rs 20,000 crore, and the Marathwada water-linking project is already on the anvil.”

The big orders, like those of the BMC and the Gujarat government, are in the bidding stage, Garg said, adding that the results of the bidding will be out in a quarter or so.
