The government is likely to extend the final application deadline for its Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), according to people familiar with the matter.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is reviewing feedback from stakeholders and monitoring the response to the scheme. Officials said the government is seeing healthy interest from the industry and may revise timelines to accommodate more applications.
The ECMS scheme, launched to boost domestic manufacturing of key electronic components, opened its online application window on May 1, 2025. The initiative is designed to support the production of 11 types of components, including display modules, camera modules, multi-layer printed circuit boards and lithium-ion cells for digital applications, under four segments — A, B, C and D.
Applications are accepted through the government portal www.ecms.meity.gov.in.
