US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said India has agreed to drop tariffs to "nothing", amid ongoing trade talks between the countries.

"India is an example, they've one of the highest tariffs in the world. We're not gonna put up with that, they've already agreed. They've already agreed to drop it to nothing. They would have never done that for anybody else but me," he said on the sidelines of a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

The comments from Trump come at a time when the first round of in-person talks between the two countries came to a "successful" conclusion in Washington a few days back.

This also comes hours after India and the UK announced that a free trade agreement has been concluded which was under negotiation since January 2022.
