Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have bought Strancally Castle. It is a historic Gothic Revival property in County Waterford in southeast Ireland. The off-market purchase was completed in recent weeks, according to The Canberra Times.
The castle sits on a 440-acre estate overlooking the River Blackwater, around 200 kilometres from Meta's European headquarters in Dublin.
Built around 1830 for former politician John Keily, the three-storey property has undergone extensive restoration over the past two decades.

The amount Zuckerberg paid has not been disclosed, and the transaction has not yet appeared on Ireland's Property Price Register. However, The Irish Times estimated that the estate could be worth between €20 million and €30 million.
A spokesperson for Zuckerberg confirmed the purchase, saying the family was “excited to continue caring for this historic home” and looking forward to spending time in Ireland, reports said.
Zuckerberg and Chan are expected to continue living in the United States and use the castle during their visits to Ireland. Meta has maintained its international headquarters in Dublin since 2009 and employs about 1,500 people in the country.

The purchase adds a significant Irish property to Zuckerberg's portfolio while giving the Meta chief a private base close to the company's European operations.
