The T90 containerised crew gunnery simulator, for which Zen Technologies Ltd. recently received the Indian patent, is expected to contribute around 5–10% revenue for the company over the next two to three years.

Zen Technologies’ Chairman and Managing Director Ashok Atluri expects a sizeable revenue inflow from this new technology.

“Probably 5% to 10% of our revenues may be generated from the simulators,” Atluri told NDTV Profit.

Zen Technologies on Nov. 25 announced the grant of Indian patent for its ‘T90 containerised crew gunnery simulator’. It was the 20th patent for the company in 2024 and the 10th this fiscal.

The T90 containerised crew gunnery simulator (T90 CGS) is an advanced, innovative system designed to provide a highly immersive and interactive training experience to increase the gunnery proficiency of the T-90 tank commander and gunner. The system replicates the battlefield conditions and operational tasks of the T90 tank, providing realistic targets with AI reactions.

Talking about the simulator, Atluri told NDTV Profit that developing the technology was a challenge.

“The tank simulators are very complex simulators because you have to replicate the complete tank and you open the hatch, you get into the tank, it should be a physically complete replica. And that should be on a motion platform. To put it in a container is a very challenging thing and we did it for the Indian Armed Forces,” he said.

The top executive noted that Zen Technologies had already started selling the tank simulators and it was an old patent that was granted recently.

“Our estimate is that sooner or later, the market (size for tank simulators) is around Rs 4,000 crore within India and, overseas it's almost $1 billion,” he said.

Atluri expected significant revenue coming from the Indian Armed Forces for this technology in the future.

“We think it will probably happen in the next year and the years after,” he explained.

Though Zen Technologies had been selling tank simulators, after getting the patent the company can now officially claim to be the sole vendor for the T90 containerised crew gunnery simulator, the CMD noted.

The company has also demonstrated the product to US authorities, he revealed.

“Last November when we went, they (US) had shown interest in this technology. We are talking to them at this point in time, but we are a couple of years away before we get anything in that. But other countries maybe a little sooner, maybe next year or the year after that,” he said.

Shares of Zen Technologies Ltd. slipped up to 1.8%, to an intraday low of Rs 1,873 apiece on the NSE on Thursday. However, the stock recovered some early losses to trade 0.86% lower at Rs 1,890.95 apiece on the NSE at 11:50 am, compared to benchmark Nifty trading 0.67% lower at 24,112.
