Vistara Slashes Business Class Fares Amid Low Demand

New Delhi: Full service carrier Vistara has lowered its business class fares by up to 30 per cent on select routes for a limited period amid low demand.

The reduction in fares comes close on the heels of the Tata-SIA joint venture airline announcing slashing of the business class seats in aircraft by half and by one-thirds in the premium economy from next month.

Vistara, which started operations in January 2015, is the only domestic carrier which offers three cabin classes on its aircraft -- business, premium economy and economy.

The discounted fares are exclusive of fees and taxes and available for booking and travel only up to April 15, it said. The airline currently operates 317 flights a week to 12 domestic destinations, which will be scaled up to 400 flights per week during the summer schedule, which will come into effect later this month.

It also plans to add three new destinations -- Jammu, Srinagar and Kochi -- in the network.

As part of its offer, a business class ticket for a one way journey to Mumbai from Delhi will now start at Rs 15,000 as against Rs 21,000 earlier, while for Ahmedabad-Mumbai, the fares have been lowered to Rs 11,000 from Rs 15,000.

The fare for the same class for a journey to Hyderabad from Bengaluru now commences from Rs 14,000 as compared to Rs 19,000 earlier. The ticket price for Delhi-Bengaluru has also been lowered by Rs 4,250, Vistara said.

Vistara currently has a fleet of nine Airbus A320s, with each having 16 business class, 36 premium economy and 96 economy class seats.
