UP Cabinet Approves Deal To Buy 1,600 MW From Adani Power For 25 Years
The Uttar Pradesh Power Corp. Ltd. (UPPCL) signed a power purchase agreement with Adani Power, which won the tender for the project in October 2024.

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday approved a deal between the state discom and Adani Power Ltd. to purchase power from a 1,600-megawatt thermal plant to be set up.
The Uttar Pradesh Power Corp. Ltd. (UPPCL) signed a power purchase agreement with Adani Power, which won the tender for the project in October 2024.
The deal involves setting up a 2x800 MW ultra-supercritical technology-based greenfield thermal power plant in UP, which will deliver electricity to the state for 25 years.
Adani Power logged a consolidated revenue from operations of Rs 14,237.4 crore in the January-March quarter, up 6.5% as compared to Rs 13,363.69 crore in the year-ago period.
The consolidated power sale volume increased to 26.4 billion units in the March quarter, up by 18.9% from 22.2 billion in the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal. This is due to the growing power demand and higher operating capacity, the company said.
For the entire fiscal year 2025, the consolidated total revenue was up 10.8% at Rs 56,473 as against Rs 50,960 crore in fiscal 2024. This was supported by higher sales volumes, offset partially by lower tariff realisation.
