Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced on Monday it has been selected by Three UK, one of the UK's leading mobile network carriers, to help the latter configure its mobile network for its ongoing rollout of 5G services.
Three is in the process of deploying a new 5G radio access network that is already live in 175 towns and cities in the UK, across more than 1,000 sites, providing its customers with access to next generation 5G connectivity.
It selected TCS as its partner to manage the configuration of a new core next generation mobile network, and ensure it integrates correctly with the 5G radio access network, a TCS statement said.
“This work will include configuring the core network for new site deployments, site upgrades, performance management, and 3G and 4G tuning changes,” the statement said.
Three UK is a British telecommunications and Internet service provider based in Maidenhead, England. It is a subsidiary of CK Hutchison Holdings, operating under the global Three brand. Three is the fourth-largest mobile network operator in the UK, with 13.3 million subscribers as of July 2020
TCS reported a 7.2 per cent jump in its profit for the final quarter of 2020, as India's top software services firm benefitted from greater demand for its cloud services during the Covid-19 pandemic.
At 3:35 pm Monday on the Bombay Stock Exchange TCS was trading at Rs 3,223.80, down 9.80 per cent the previous trading day.
