Terrano volumes drive Nissan India January sales up by 29 per cent: report

Japanese car maker Nissan drove in good sales performance in India for a fourth consecutive month as its volumes grew 29 per cent to 5,195 units in January with more than half of the sales coming from its premium compact sports utility vehicle Terrano.

Nissan Motor India, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor, had sold 4,028 units in January 2013.

"Nissan Motor India has seen a turnaround in sales, starting October last year with the rollout of Terrano. After seeing a decline in volumes in December, Terrano sales again shot up to 3,130 units in January and this helped the company post a 29 per cent growth in total sales," sources said.

It also sold 1,273 units of small car Micra, 650 units of mid-size sedan Sunny and 138 units of Evalia during the period.

Nissan Motor India produces four models - Micra, Sunny and Evalia, besides Terrano - at its Chennai plant.
