Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has chaired a high-level review meeting on the Production Linked Incentive Scheme, calling for a sharper roadmap to achieve self-reliance in the 14 sectors covered under the initiative.

Goyal urged ministries to work closely with the National Industrial Corridor Development Corp. to resolve infrastructure bottlenecks and ensure a smoother rollout of ongoing projects.

The minister directed stakeholders to prepare a detailed five-year plan that clearly outlines projected investments, production targets and incentive disbursements. He emphasised that while progress had been made, coordinated action was key to realising the scheme's full potential.

As of March 2025, the PLI scheme has attracted investments worth Rs 1.76 lakh crore, leading to production/sales of over Rs 16.5 lakh crore and the creation of over 12 lakh jobs (direct and indirect). A total of Rs 21,534 crore in incentives has been disbursed across 12 key sectors, including large-scale electronics manufacturing, IT hardware, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, food processing, telecom, auto components, specialty steel, textiles and drones.

The PLI initiative, aimed at enhancing India's manufacturing capacity and reducing import dependency, has had a transformative impact across sectors, spurring domestic production, boosting exports and strengthening value chains.
