(Bloomberg) -- New York Mayor Bill de Blasio canceled his Monday schedule after feeling ill overnight, spokeswoman Freddi Goldstein said.
“It's a stomach bug,” Goldstein said. “Rather than try to work through it he decided to give himself some rest all day.”
Goldstein said that de Blasio hasn't been tested for the Covid-19 virus.
“Based on what he's experiencing, he doesn't feel he needs to be tested,” Goldstein said. “These symptoms have not been included among those the city health department has emphasized when advising people to get tested. It's only been within the past two weeks that testing has been available to people who don't have Covid-like symptoms.”
She said she didn't know whether de Blasio has consulted with his physician about the issue.
The mayor's Monday schedule had included his daily briefing and appearances on CNN and NY1.
