The Indian rupee depreciated against the U.S. dollar for the third consecutive session.
The rupee opened 4 paise lower at 79.83 against the rallying greenback. During the day, it weakened as much as 0.14% to 79.90, before closing at 79.84
The domestic currency had closed at 79.80 on Friday.
A rallying dollar also caused the euro to drop as much as 0.5% on Monday to 99.01 cents, in line with the August trough that took it to the weakest since 2002.
