The Indian rupee gained against the U.S. dollar after a day of sharp depreciation.
The currency opened at 81.66, appreciating 0.26% over Monday's close of 81.87.
During the day, the local currency gained as much as 0.64% to 81.35. The rupee ended Tuesday's trade at 81.51 against the greenback, up 0.44%.
