India's coronavirus curve showed so signs of flattening on Sunday, as the nation added nearly 25,000 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours to peg the total tally at 6.75 lakh. Track latest news and updates on the pandemic here:
Rajasthan recorded 224 coronnavirus cases and six deaths due to Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, an official report stated on Sunday. The fatalities were reported from Jodhpur (4), Kota (1) and Udaipur (1), taking the death toll to 453.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the state has increased to 19,756. Of the total 224 fresh cases, maximum of 48 cases were reported from Pratapgarh. PTI
Mangaluru city and suburban areas in Dakshina Kannada wore a deserted look on Sunday with the people fully backing the total lockdown clamped by the district administration in the wake of increasing number of coronavirus cases. The total lockdown is set to continue on all Sundays till August 2 unless otherwise notified. PTI
Ignoring the opposition's criticism of the Maharashtra government's handling of the Covid-19 crisis, Aaditya Thackeray said the priority of his administration is to tackle the pandemic situation and other things are secondary.
"Let them do their work, we'll keep on doing our work. Our priority at present is to deal with the Covid-19 situation and break the virus chain, other things are secondary," the state’s environment and tourism minister said in Thane on Saturday evening.
He was in the area to take stock of the Covid-19 situation and measures undertaken by civic bodies in the district to contain the disease.
The Shiv Sena MLA also launched the Thane Municipal Corporation's mobile app that allows users to book hospital beds and ambulances. PTI
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said big events can be held while adhering to Covid-19 protocol, and the 'Van Mahotsav' will be a witness to this.
"Pre-Covid, during Covid and post-Covid are three categories, which the world will be able to clearly see. These will say what was the situation of the world before the Covid-19 outbreak, what was the condition during the outbreak and what will be the changes in the world after Covid," he said at the launch of 'Van Mahotsav' in Lucknow. Globally too, the World Health Organization reported a one-day high for coronavirus cases, led by the Americas, as U.S. cases rose 1.7%. Florida and Texas recorded new virus records. President Donald Trump again linked testing and mounting cases.
