Mumbai's BEST Undertaking rolled out 10 electric buses on Sept. 10 in an effort to reduce its carbon footprint.
The 31-seater zero-emission electric buses are nine metres long and can travel up to 200 kilometres on a single charge of three hours. Six of these are air-conditioned and four are non-AC.
The disabled-friendly buses have electronically controlled air suspension system and CCTV cameras. The buses are expected to help the public transport company save on fuel costs.
BEST also launched a mobile app called ‘Best Pravas' which will give passengers real-time information of their commute, and will also enable them to rate drivers.
