(Bloomberg) -- Chateau Ausone in Saint Emilion and Pomerol producers Le Pin and Petrus were among the most-traded wines on the London-based Liv-ex market in the past week, with Le Pin 2009 reaching a record after being the most active wine this month.
Le Pin 2009 climbed to 35,030 pounds ($45,987) per 12-bottle case, according to Liv-ex's website, just shy of 3,000 pounds a bottle, a reflection of the critical acclaim for the 2009 vintage as well as the small production from the vineyard that has just 2 hectares (5 acres) planted with vines.
In contrast, the Ausone 2011 was trading 22 percent below the level at which it started trading in London, according to Liv-ex. The focus on top right-bank labels contrasted with lower interest in the Medoc first-growths from the left bank of the Gironde.
“A quiet week for the first growths, which comprised just 12.3 percent of trade, pushed Bordeaux's trade share down to 65.5 percent” in the week to Oct. 26, from 77.4 percent the previous week, Liv-ex said in its Talking Trade report. Burgundy accounted for 12 percent, Italy 8.4 percent, Champagne 4.8 percent and other regions the remainder.
Interest in Champagne was partly driven by the recently released Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill 2006 label, which attracted buyers for the second straight week, according to Liv-ex.
