Amway India Signs Farhan Akhtar as Nutrilite Brand Ambassador

New Delhi: Direct-selling FMCG firm Amway India on Friday announced Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar as its brand ambassador to promote Nutrilite range of the products.

Amway India CEO Anshu Budhraja said: "We needed a strong and credible face who could help people understand the role of supplementation in addition to balanced diet and exercise as part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Farhan Akhtar was an obvious choice."

He said studies in India indicate that nine out of 10 Indians consume less than adequate protein daily. The fact is a majority of people are not consuming the World Health Organization's minimum recommendation of five servings (400 grams) per day of fruits and vegetables, thus missing out on important nutritional benefits.

"This indeed is a matter of concern," Budhraja said. Nutrilite is a leading brand of vitamins and dietary supplements.

"In India, Nutrilite has firmly established itself as the leading brand in the vitamins and dietary supplements category. The brand contributes more than 50 per cent of Amway India's turnover," he said.

Budhraja further said: "We are confident that Farhan's association will provide a further fillip to the Nutrilite brand in the country."

Amway India plans to launch a big campaign in early 2016 to leverage the association of Akhtar with Nutrilite.

On his association with Amway, Akhtar said, "I strongly believe that it is important to take care of one's daily nutritional needs for a healthy and long life. People should understand the virtues of being fit, healthy and eating right."
