Economic Survey 2025: CEA Nageswaran Recommends Private Sector Aid To Small Farmers
According to the Economic Survey, the increasing consumption of non-food grains, particularly horticultural products, livestock, and fisheries, will be significant.

The government believes that a substantial private sector investment will be vital to aid small-scale farmers as India's consumption patterns shift away from food grains, noted the Economic Survey 2024-2025. The Survey was tabled in the parliament on Friday, a day before the presentation of Union Budget 2025.
According to the Economic Survey, the increasing consumption of non-food grains, particularly horticultural products, livestock, and fisheries, will be significant.
"Given the perishable nature of these high-value commodities, effective post-harvest management and robust marketing infrastructure are essential," the report read. This will need to be aided by a private sector boost for small farmers, the report added.
The government also called for farmer producer organisations, cooperatives, and self-help groups as the agri sector's growth stands at an inflection point.
