The Ministry of Defence has received the highest allocation of funds in the Union Budget 2025, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament on Saturday.
The sector was followed closely by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Ministry of Railways, and Ministry of Home Affairs. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution received the fifth highest fund allocation.
Here's The Allocation
The Ministry of Defence received a significant allocation of Rs 6.81 lakh crore, marking a 9.53% increase from the previous allocation of Rs 6.21 lakh crore. This substantial boost in funding is expected to enhance the country's defence capabilities and support various initiatives, including modernisation, infrastructure development and research.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways received an allocation worth Rs 2.87 lakh crore, compared to Rs 2.78 lakh crore at 3.35% increase.
The Ministry of Railways received an allocation of Rs 2.55 lakh crore, just 0.02% increase in allocation.
The Ministry of Home Affairs received an allocation worth Rs 2.33 lakh crore as compared to Rs 2.19 lakh crore last fiscal, an increase of 6.17%.
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution received an allocation worth Rs 2.15 lakh crore this fiscal.
