Budget 2025: Date, Time, When And Where To Watch Nirmala Sitharaman's Speech Live?

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the first full Budget of Modi 3.0 government on Feb. 1 amid expectations of tweaking income tax slabs, major boost for the infrastructure sector, larger allocations for rural development and the education sector. Sitharaman will also create history with her eighth consecutive Union Budget on Saturday.

The Budget Session commenced on Friday with President Droupadi Murmu addressing the joint sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The first part of the session will conclude on February 13 and the second part will start on March 10. The session will conclude on April 4.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will start her Budget speech in the Lok Sabha at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Ahead of the Budget, Finance Minister Sitharaman will table Economic Survey 2024-25 on Friday, providing an official assessment of the performance of the economy in the ongoing financial year, and list out the challenges being faced by the nation.

The Economic Survey, tabled in Parliament ahead of the Union Budget, also provides the roadmap for reforms and growth. The document is prepared by a team led by Chief Economic Adviser V Anantha Nageswaran.

Ahead of Parliament's Budget session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that it is the first time since 2014 when no attempt from abroad was made to stoke trouble in India before the start of a session.

With his government tabling its first full-fledged budget on Saturday in its third term, Modi said he prayed that Goddess Lakshmi, who is associated with wealth, will bless the poor and middle class.

Speaking to reporters, he expressed confidence that this Budget session will infuse new confidence and energy in attaining the goal of 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.

The Government is likely to propose the new Income-tax Bill in the upcoming Union Budget 2025. The draft Bill envisages to replace the decades old Income-tax Act, 1961, people in the know told NDTV Profit last week.

According to the sources, the Bill will be implemented later in the year after consultation with all stakeholders. The intent of the government, as per a source, is to simplify the language of the direct tax laws and make it taxpayer-friendly.
