Earlier Al Jazeera reported that Iranian authorities said US-Israeli strikes targeted two petrochemical facilities in the southern Khuzestan province, while another attack on the Bushehr nuclear site killed one person. Tehran also claimed it had downed two US warplanes, one over Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province and another in the Gulf, with two crew members rescued and at least one still missing.
According to a report in Al Jazeera, Jordan, too, reported sustained incoming fire. In a statement carried by the Petra news agency, the Jordanian Armed Forces said Iran had launched 161 missiles and 120 drones towards its territory since the outbreak of the conflict.
“All Iranian attacks targeted vital facilities and sites within Jordanian territory, meaning they were not incidental,” the statement said, adding that all but 20 of the incoming projectiles were successfully intercepted.
The ongoing Iran war has triggered a sweeping humanitarian emergency, with thousands killed and millions displaced within just weeks, according to the World Health Organization.
