(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump said China has tempered its response to protests in Hong Kong as a result of trade talks with the U.S.
Trump told reporters at the White House on Friday that there may have been more violence were it not for the discussions. He said China knows violence would be bad for a deal.
Trade talks are “keeping down the temperature” in Hong Kong, the president said.
