Mumbai Rains: Heavy Rains Hit Mumbai, Trains On Central Line Delayed

As parts of Mumbai woke up to heavy rainfall, the Indian Meteorological Department warned that the downpour is likely to increase over the next five days. Catch all your live updates here.

Meanwhile, trains on the suburban section of the Central Railway are running late by 10-12 minutes due to the showers, Sunil Udasi, chief public relations officer, told PTI.

As parts of Mumbai woke up to heavy rainfall, the Indian Meteorological Department warned that the downpour is likely to increase over coastal Karnataka, Goa and south Maharashtra over the next few days.

"The widespread rainfall activity is likely to continue till June 10. It is very likely to extend to north coastal Maharashtra, including Mumbai from tomorrow," the department said in a statement.

A low pressure area is "very likely" to form over north Bay of Bengal during the next two days which is "very likely" to intensify into a depression and move towards the coast of West Bengal and Bangladesh, the statement added.

The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall warning over north Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya.
