Iran has strongly condemned what it described as a targeted strike on the Pasteur Institute in Tehran, calling the attack a “barbaric assault” on public health infrastructure and fundamental human values.
In a post on X, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei accused American and Israeli forces of carrying out the strike on one of Iran's most prominent scientific institutions. He described the incident as “heartbreaking, cruel, despicable, and utterly outrageous.”
“The American-Israeli aggressors have attacked the Pasteur Institute of Iran — the oldest and most prestigious research and public health center in Iran and the entire Middle East,” Baqaei said. He noted that the institute, established in 1920 through collaboration between the Pasteur Institute of Paris and the Iranian government, has long been a cornerstone of the country's healthcare and research ecosystem.

Baqaei further alleged that the strike goes beyond conventional warfare. “This is not merely another war crime committed as part of an illegal war; it is a barbaric assault on basic human core values,” he said.

The spokesperson also shared images on X purportedly showing the extent of the damage to the facility.
The claims come amid escalating tensions in the region, though there has been no immediate response from US or Israeli officials regarding the alleged strike.
