Oracle's reported job cuts have triggered a sharp wave of alarm online, with employees, tech watchers and investors framing the layoffs as another sign that the AI boom may be reshaping the job market faster than workers can adapt.

A user named @RohitAryannn shared that one of his relatives, holding a senior position at Oracle's Bengaluru office, described the situation as “really bad.” According to the post, longtime employees, some with over 15 years of service, were being let go abruptly, many of them hardworking and highly skilled.

"His WhatsApp and mail are now filled with job requests, people asking for help, referrals, anything… share price is up, sure, but at what cost ? Gave their life to one company, replaced in weeks." he added.

Another user @_Mojo_Jojo pulled the attention to how layoffs affect households and they do not just bring change into professional lives. "EMIs don't pause. Rent doesn't wait. Responsibilities don't shrink. Behind every “resource optimization” is someone recalculating survival," the user said.

While these comments show worry and anger towards the layoffs, some users question the leadership of Oracle.

A user @exPUNISHER called to remove the current CEO of the company. He wrote, "30k people laid off at Oracle overnight is crazy. If you need to layoff 30k at once I think you're mismanaging your company and you need to replace your CEO asap. (sic)"

Another user @JassneetSingha describing his friend's situation, who had been laid off, said, "One thing he said stayed with me: I'd rather earn Rs12L and take the rest as benefits. I just don't want to pay tax (sic).”

In such a strained situation, some users were also there to keep the morale high of those who have been laid off. One of those users, @TusharBhojwan10 wrote: "Make sure you don't demotivate yourself so much. Get up and keep going again. Don't let your brain get into stupid posts saying layoffs have destroyed your wealth and plans. Get back on your feet YOU CAN DO IT."

Roughly 12,000 employees were laid off in Oracle India, with another round expected within weeks. The layoffs reportedly are part of a global reduction of nearly 30,000 roles and come as growth in India's IT services industry slows sharply after two decades of expansion.

The company cited "organisational change" and said the roles have been eliminated with immediate effect. "Today is your last working day," the firm reportedly said in an email sent to the sacked employees at 6 AM EST on Tuesday.
