Swiggy's 2024 survey highlights India's obsession with chocolate desserts, with over 3.6 million choco lava cakes ordered alongside a surge in regional favourites like Shahi Tukda in Hyderabad.

The year 2024 has been quite a sweet delight as India obsessed over chocolate desserts. Around 3.6 million people ordered choco lava cake, and 2.27 million individuals savoured chocolate truffle cake, according to a survey by Swiggy. Hyderabad witnessed a spike in orders for Shahi Tukda, while Black Forest Cake was the top pick for people in Ludhiana.
Mom-cooked meals are the preferred option for many, but Mother's Day unofficially became the cake day of India with 193 cakes ordered on the same day.
Falooda was the 'most valued player' in Kochi and Kozhikode, while Lucknow celebrated Holi by spending Rs 28,830 on Gujiyas, the survey revealed.

In Bikaner, dessert lovers were eager for their treat, and so were the delivery partners.
In just three minutes, a delivery partner arrives with three ice creams, including chocochips, strawberry, and roasted almond from NIC ice creams. Keeping up with the pace, Rasmalai and Sitaphal ice cream topped the charts as the most-ordered delights to fulfil people's cravings in 10 minutes.
Food: The Heart of India's Festive Spirit In 2024
Food has always been the heart of India's festivals, and 2024 was no different. During Iftar celebrations, more than 79% of customers ordered Malpua, while 58% preferred Falooda and 48% enjoyed dates, the Swiggy survey reported.
During Ganesh Chaturthi, 2,26,393 modaks were ordered, with one esteemed foodie ordering the sweet treat for Rs 12,000 in a single order. During Diwali, 1.14 crore Indians placed orders for milk cakes.
One person from Bengaluru ordered 120 burgers when India won the T20 World Cup, followed by a foodie in Chandigarh, who asked for 70 burgers, it said.
