Chhaava Box Office Collection: Vicky Kaushal's Film Set To Enter Rs 500 Crore Club By This Date

Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava is on track to become the biggest Bollywood blockbuster of 2025, having already grossed over Rs 490 crore since its release.

Chhaava, a biopic of the 17th-century Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has done strong business across the country. The film's collections have been even more impressive in states like Maharashtra and Rajasthan, where the iconic figure is highly revered. Chhaava, meaning "lion's cub" in Marathi, marks the reference of Sambhaji Maharaj being the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Chhaava Box Office Collection So Far

Film critic Taran Adarsh, on Thursday, shared that Chhaava continued its strong performance even in its third weekend, earning Rs 22.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 24.3 crore on Sunday. Since Monday, the film has been grossing Rs 5-7 crore daily, bringing its total earnings to Rs 490.89 crore since its release on Feb. 14.

Chhaava has become the biggest career hit for Vicky Kaushal, breaking several records and achieving many milestones. The film, which received mixed reviews from critics, has received immense love from audiences.

Chhaava earned Rs 33.10 crore on its opening day, setting a new record as the highest collection by an Indian film on Valentine's Day. It entered the Rs 200 crore club on Feb 19, aided by the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti holiday in Maharashtra.

Chhaava To Enter Rs 500 Crore Club?

At the current pace, it is anticipated that Chhaava will enter the Rs 500 crore club within this week. According to Adarsh, Chhaava will likely surpass the Rs 500 crore milestone on the fourth Friday (Mar. 7).

Directed by Laxman Utekar, the movie features actor Akshaye Khanna in the role of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Rashmika Mandanna, Ashutosh Rana and Diana Penty in key roles. Mandanna plays the role of Sambhaji Maharaj’s wife, Yesubai Bhonsale.

Maharashtra CM Praises 'Chhaava'

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said the movie 'Chhaava' highlights the bravery and intelligence of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and that historians didn’t treat him well.

Talking to reporters at the special screening of the movie organised by minister Aditi Tatkare, Fadnavis described the film as "very nice", which, he said, creates awareness of the life and times of the warrior king.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Asim Azmi was on Wednesday suspended from the Maharashtra legislative assembly till the ongoing budget session ends on March 26, over his remarks eulogising Mughal ruler Aurangzeb, who had ordered the torture and execution of Sambhaji Maharaj.
