Okay, guys, it's getting serious now. AI has done some wild things, ranging from deepfakes, voice clones, and even those unsettling images of Pope Francis in a puffer jacket. But the latest twist? ChatGPT is now dabbling unintentionally in the ID forgery business.

Since OpenAI unlocked image generation capabilities for GPT-4o, users have run wild, with over 700 million images already created. But a more troubling trend is now popping up.

Fake Aadhaar cards.

Yes, you read that right. Users online have started posting eerily realistic images of India's unique identification document, complete with their own photos, Aadhaar numbers, and QR codes, generated using none other than ChatGPT's new image tool.

Netizens have, as expected, taken to creating memes, generating fake Aadhaar cards for none other than OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman and Tesla boss Elon Musk. Yes, Elon Musk now apparently has an Indian Aadhaar identity—who knew?

Social media sleuths pointed out how ChatGPT's image generation was now also capable of churning out fake PAN cards.

Despite OpenAI enforcing content restrictions and safety systems, the issues seems to be getting out of hand. While the average user might just be trying to turn themselves into anime characters, it's becoming clear that these tools—if left unchecked—can be used for more than just fun.
