A total of nine festivals and events will lead to bank closures in August 2025, impacting operations for nearly half the month. Some holidays are nationwide, while others are regional and may affect only certain states. A few of the holidays will fall on the weekends, which can lead to confusion about banking operations in August.

Banks are usually closed on the second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays, as per RBI rules. This time, Janmashtami falls on the third Saturday, which means that only the first and last Saturdays of the month will be operational for most banks in India.

Raksha Bandhan falls on the second Saturday (Aug. 9), which is already a holiday for banks across India. Independence Day (Aug. 15) falls on a Friday, creating a long weekend that includes the Janmashtami break.

This means that there are three Saturdays and seven weekday holidays in August. With Sundays included, banks are set to remain closed on a total of 15 days this month.
