Are you one of those who want to buy a new iPhone? Well, it would be best if you could wait till the launch of the iPhone 17 series this year.

Apple usually launches its iPhones in the first half of September and is expected to launch the iPhone 17 series during the same period this year. So, waiting till that time will give you the option to either buy the latest iPhone or get the chance to get an older version at a discount.

Every iPhone launch usually has upgrades to the camera, processor and other features. For example, the iPhone 16 introduced the camera control button and Apple Intelligence across the full series.

According to reports, the iPhone 17 could come with a new camera system and colour options. It could be slimmer so that it can beat the Galaxy S25 Edge in this area. It may run on iOS 26.

At the same time, it is important to note that upgrades to the iPhone are usually modest. So the question is: should you buy an iPhone now?

Ideally, you should wait till the iPhone 17 series is launched. Once you take a look at what Apple is offering in its latest gadget, you can make an informed decision about whether the previous versions of the iPhone meet your needs. If not, you can opt for the iPhone 17.

If the differences between iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 are not significant for you, you could stick to iPhone 16.

As past trends indicate, after the launch of the iPhone 17, the prices of the iPhone 16 are likely to be lowered across e-commerce websites and retailers. So, you can get it at a much lower price compared to its current cost.

Another thing to watch out for is how the US tariffs could impact the price of the iPhone 17. President Donald Trump has said that Apple must pay 25% tariffs on iPhones produced outside the US. This could lead to a hike in the cost of the gadget.
