Swiggy Launches 'Scenes' Event Ticketing Feature To Compete With Zomato's District
Swiggy's launch followed Zomato Ltd.'s introduction of the District app, intensifying competition in the event and quick commerce markets.

Swiggy Ltd. forayed into the business of event ticketing with an in-app offering called Scenes. The new feature comes less than a month after the food aggregator's biggest rival Zomato Ltd. launched the standalone District app for its going-out business.
Housed within the Dineout section of the Swiggy app, Scenes is currently offering events like Christmas and new year's eve parties, live music and DJ nights. However, unlike District, Scenes does not offer movie tickets. Currently, Scenes is live in Mumbai and Bangalore.
The launch of Scenes is the latest move in a series of attempted one upping by quick commerce players as the heat to diversify revenue streams intensifies further.
Zomato's Blinkit launched Bistro, as the quick commerce arm entered the 10-minute food delivery arena, which is hotly contested with new entrants Zepto Cafe, Swiggy's Bolt, freshly funded Swish.
Earlier in December, Amazon also joined the quick commerce race with Tez, the company's rapid delivery arm which will be competing against Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, and BigBasket.
The launch of Scenes followed Swiggy's Dec. 11 roll out of 'One BLCK', an invite-only premium membership option for what it termed as consumers "seeking the highest level of convenience and service".
With a Rs 299 launch price of the One BLCK membership, Swiggy aimed to integrate 'members-only' benefits for food delivery, quick commerce, dining out, and streaming platforms for premium users. Premium members will have access to unlimited, free and faster deliveries on food orders (with an 'On-time' guarantee) and "exclusive perks" from brands like Amazon Prime, Hotstar, Hamleys, Cinepolis, and others.
