Stuttering, Frame Drops And Crashes: Users Report Issues With Nvidia's Latest GeForce Drivers
Some game developers have also recommended their customers to downgrade their graphics driver.
Nvidia's latest 572.xx graphics driver was widely reported by users to cause performance issues in their video games, according to various posts from users on social media websites like Reddit and videogame retail and discussion forum 'Steam'.
Users reported having to deal with frame rate drops, game stuttering, black screens and their games entirely crashing after updating their graphics drivers to Nvidia's latest build.
Nvidia had attempted to address these issues by rolling out updates and support for RTX 5090 and 5080 graphics processing units. But this did not help users with older versions such as RTX40 and RTX30 GPUs.
Those gamers using Nvidia's previous RTX40 and RTX30 GPUs reported facing the most issues.
Game developers have recommended their customers to downgrade their graphics driver, in order for them to be able to run their games. Makers of the soulslike game 'The First Berserker: Khazan' and life-sim game 'InZOI' made posts on Steam, requesting users to revert to previous versions of Nvidia drivers in order to have a more consistent, stable and workable game on their hands.
Many users reported that the issues were resolved after rolling their drivers back to the 566.36 version. But this introduced new issues for users who would not be able to run games such as Half-Life 2 RTX which utilises the capabilities of these drivers to provide unique visual features.
Some users also vented frustration regarding having to rollback their driver updates. They pointed out that it defeated the purpose of purchasing the latest hardware at premium pricing if they are unable to access its capabilities and have to resort to using drivers developed for older GPUs.
"Spending (AUS) $1500 on a graphics card and then having it not work properly within 1 year (or be locked out of certain games because I am not using the latest drivers) is unacceptable," posted a Reddit user who goes by the name Scotty 1992. They compiled a thread of users who faced similar issues.
Users reported on the Nvidia community subreddit on Reddit that games like Cyberpunk 2077, and Indiana Jones And The Great Circle were having issues with stability when running on this new hardware and drivers.
