Billionaire Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet service may cost up to Rs 33,000, news agency ANI reported, citing sources.

The satellite dish device is anticipated to cost around Rs 33,000, while monthly subscription fees are expected to cost around Rs 3,000 a year. Customers can avail a free trial for a month to assess the service for themselves with every device purchase.

The device's low orbit satellite is expected to provide high-speed internet services to users in the most remote part of the globe. This may especially benefit areas where standard internet service technology might not have the capacity to be set up or to function as intended.

The pricing structure is similar in Bhutan and Bangladesh, according to ANI, with both countries having the price of purchase at Rs 33,000.

On June 6, sources informed NDTV Profit that Elon Musk had received approval from the Department of Telecommunications that Starlink had official government sanction in the form of a Letter of Intent to commence operations in India.

The Letter of Intent lays out a thorough set of requirements, as confirmed by NDTV Profit and informed sources. Its purpose is to secure "control, accountability, and a loophole-free entry" for companies joining India's telecom landscape.

Starlink's Indian subsidiary needs to pay a non-refundable entry fee of Rs 1.6 crore, according to NDTV Profit's review of the Letter of Intent. This fee grants the company pan-India authorization under the Unified Licence for GMPCS, VSAT, and ISP-A services.
