Samsung has rolled out its One UI 7 update on April 7, bringing a slew of new features, visual improvements and AI-driven tools to a range of Galaxy devices. Based on Android 15, the update was earlier available to a select group of users through a beta programme in March. Now, the stable version is making its way to a wider set of Galaxy smartphones and tablets, starting with the flagship Galaxy S24 and Z series.

What’s New In One UI 7?

The additions in One UI 7 are around artificial intelligence. Samsung’s latest software introduces smart writing tools that allow users to summarise lengthy notes, check grammar and spelling. Users can even convert long passages into bullet points. An important improvement is the call transcription feature, now supporting 20 languages, including English (India) and Hindi.

Samsung also debuted Audio Eraser, which lets users remove background noise from videos. Users can also enable automatic call recording and transcription, which can be accessed later for reference.

Another big leap forward is Google Gemini’s deeper integration into One UI 7. Users can issue voice commands directly from their Galaxy device. But not all AI features will be available on older models, with certain capabilities likely limited to newer handsets.

Revamped Design And Navigation

Visually, One UI 7 brings a cleaner and more responsive interface. Samsung has introduced refreshed animations, redesigned app icons and faster app launch times. The home screen and lock screen have also undergone redesigns, giving users more ways to personalise their devices.

The camera app also has undergone a facelift, with clearer control placements. Pro Video mode now includes a new zoom tool for finer adjustments while recording and simplified manual settings.

Another addition is the “Now Bar” — Samsung’s answer to Apple’s Dynamic Island. This feature lets users access tools like music controls, interpreter mode and stopwatch functions directly from the lock screen without needing to unlock the device.

Eligible Devices

The update is currently rolling out to the following devices:

  • Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra.

  • Galaxy S24 FE.

  • Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra.

  • Galaxy S23 FE.

  • Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6.

  • Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5.

  • Galaxy Tab S10 and Tab S9 series.

  • Galaxy A55.

Samsung has also confirmed that slightly older models like the Galaxy S22 series, Z Fold and Flip 3, and the Tab S8 line-up will receive the update in future.
