Samsung is joining the race to create tri-fold smartphones, and the competition for the next big thing in foldable technology is intensifying even as players such as Huawei and Xiaomi are working on tri-fold devices too.
In contrast to its existing Galaxy Z devices, which fold inward, Samsung is contemplating a future design that folds both inward and outward. Samsung’s tri-fold internal model number was determined by GalaxyClub three weeks ago to be Q7M; however, the SM-F968 identification was unclear.
Now, recent reports indicate that the SM-F968 is the same tri-fold gadget that will be available in China and South Korea, with indications coming from the GSMA database.

It is uncertain whether these folding zones will leave behind creases, and how Samsung will address the problem. Apple is reportedly using a liquid metal hinge for its rumoured foldable iPhone to tackle this crease issue.
When Will Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold Phone Release?
Reports indicate that Samsung may not launch the tri-fold device under the Galaxy W branding. Also, Samsung smartphones listed in the GSMA database usually launch within six to seven months, according to previous trends. If this schedule holds true, Samsung’s tri-fold phone might be unveiled as early as October 2025.
