Nothing may be preparing to strengthen its CMF series with a new iteration, tentatively called the Nothing CMF Phone 2. That's what recent images circulating online suggest. The images, first shared on Reddit, show a design that departs notably from its predecessor. Most striking is the apparent shift to a triple camera system arranged in a triangular configuration, marking a clear upgrade from the dual-lens setup found in the original CMF Phone.
Elements such as the screws and the rear wheel remain in the same position as before, hinting at potential accessory compatibility with earlier models.
In addition to the camera overhaul, the leaked images show a phone with a boxy chassis featuring subtly rounded corners – a design choice likely intended to improve grip. Alongside these live images, a concept render has also emerged, adding further fuel to the speculation.
Though the photos have sparked interest among tech enthusiasts, they must be taken with a pinch of salt, as the authenticity of the leak and source cannot be verified at the moment, according to a report in 91Mobiles.
Early reports indicate that the device might adopt a more compact form factor compared to the CMF Phone 1, which has a 6.67-inch display. The listing details have already pointed to a model number shift, with the new variant possibly carrying the designation A001 in contrast to the A015 tag of its predecessor.
On the technical front, there have been mixed signals regarding the chipset, said the 91Mobiles report. Initial rumours suggested that the CMF Phone 2 would be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. But given that the similarly priced Nothing Phone (3a) series also features this chipset, speculation now points towards an alternative.
It has also been suggested that the CMF phone will continue to use a MediaTek SoC, is expected to run on Android 15 and will carry the codename ‘galaga'.
Industry whispers claim that Nothing plans to diversify its lineup ahead of the flagship Nothing Phone (3), according to 91Mobiles. The CMF Phone 2 is potentially the third offering following the recently launched Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro. Should these rumours hold true, the brand is setting the stage for an exciting series of launches in future, with the Phone (3) already slated for a July release.
