Nintendo Unveils Switch 2 With 4K Support, AI Enhancements And More
The Switch 2 introduces major performance upgrades across the board, including support for 4K gaming when docked and up to 120 frames per second at 1080p in handheld mode.
Nintendo has confirmed the release date of its much-awaited Switch 2 console. The device will be available in the US markets from June 5, at a price tag of $450 (nearly Rs 38,435). The Japanese gaming giant unveiled details of the console during a live stream on April 2.
On the face of it, the device retains a familiar design with a large display and detachable controllers. It preserves the signature hybrid setup, letting players enjoy games both on the move and on a TV through a dock.
Next-Gen Visuals And AI Powerhouse
The Nintendo Switch 2 is powered by a custom Nvidia processor with a dedicated GPU featuring RT Cores and Tensor Cores. These enable real-time ray tracing for dynamic lighting, realistic reflections and detailed shadows, significantly enhancing visual immersion.
Tensor Cores support AI-driven technologies like Deep Learning Super Sampling, which upscales graphics to higher resolutions without compromising on performance. It also enables smart features such as facial recognition and background removal during video chats—enhancing the social gaming and streaming experience.
The Switch 2 introduces major performance upgrades across the board, including support for 4K gaming when docked and up to 120 frames per second at 1080p in handheld mode. With high dynamic range and AI-powered upscaling, it delivers crisp visuals and smooth gameplay across modes.
Nvidia G-SYNC on the device enables variable refresh rate in handheld mode, delivering smooth and tear-free gaming.
Expanded Game Library
The Switch 2 marks Nintendo’s first brand-new console in eight years. To broaden its appeal, the company is expanding its library with a wide range of third-party titles, including iconic games from well-known franchises like Street Fighter and Final Fantasy, many of which weren’t available on the original Switch.
Unlike past console upgrades that often forced users to start their game collections anew, Nintendo is adopting a more seamless evolution with the Switch 2. Most current Switch titles will work on the new system, in addition to a fresh lineup of games made specifically for the Switch 2.
