Netflix Down: Thousands Face Outage, ‘Title Not Available’ Error

Thousands of users were unable to access Netflix early today as the OTT streaming service faced an outage. Over 75,000 reports of problems were recorded by the outage-tracking website DownDetector as of 9:40 p.m. EDT.
When attempting to stream content, users ran into an error code “E-100,” which showed an error message “title not available to watch instantly.” While most outage reports were from the US, Reddit users from other parts of the world also reported problems accessing the streaming service.
The E-100 error appears “when an issue with data stored on your device stops Netflix from playing,” according to a page in the Netflix Help Center. While this indicates a problem with the user’s device, considering the size and spread of the outage, it is more likely that the problem lies with Netflix rather than at the customers’ end.
While the majority of users reported problems with video streaming, many faced issues with the app, and some even with the Netflix website, according to DownDetector.
User Reactions To Netflix Outage
Users on DownDetector as well as social networking sites such as X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit voiced their frustrations with accessing content on Netflix.
One user wrote on DownDetector: “ATTENTION; Netflix down… looks global. I know cause it went out while using. Netflix is saying there’s no issue but Reddit has reports from all over the world. Anyone else having issues too? Cyberattack?”
Another wrote, “Netflix just crashed and burned in me watching anime...wth. Won't work on any device.”
“I'm getting ‘This title is not available to watch instantly’ for anything I play on all my devices,” yet another user reported.
Users reported on both televisions and on phones: One said “Trying to watch Netflix and every title I click on says that the title is not available. I've done every troubleshooting trick that I can think of and it's still not working. Not even on my phone?”
The outage reports have not yet received a formal response from Netflix.
